Default 8520 password locked

Please Login to Remove!

hi my mrs 8520 is saying its locked, her wee cousin was playing doodle jump on it and says he just exited back to wallpaper and that came up, says he knows no password etc.

tells us we only have 10 times to try get it right before all data is lost and we;ve tried 7 passwords already.. she is freaking out as shes lots of pics of our baby son on it thats not backed up his first pic etc :/

any ideas how to remove this? its not an unblocking code like you can buy because we cant get access to the IEMI code or whatever its called

when I plug it into the pc it still asks for a password before I can back it up etc. on the blackberry software.. any other way around this so I can backup her photos etc?

thanks

If you don't know the password you will not be able to unlock the BlackBerry. No way around it.

If the pics are on a microSD card, remove the card.

Nope. If you don't have a backup then all is lost. You have 10 tries and then it is wiped. One of the security features of the BB.

And just in case and since we see this a lot from first time posters so please do not be offended - if it so happens that you actually found the device, why not try to return it to the rightful owner?

No way around it. That's the point of password protection.

No problem cheers lads. I've asked the kids mum to try get the info out of him in the morning again incase he is lying. Out of curiosity what would he have had to do/go into to set this? Its not something that can be done by mistake I'm guessing..

Her fault for leaving it lying around for him to play with tho, hes always stealing my iphone! :@

By the way, setting the password is not a trivial thing to do by accident.

EDIT: It's done in device options. And in typical fashion the password has to be entered twice.

And to answer your next question, you'll need the password to disable the password.

No way around it.

Yeah thought as much, I'm hoping the last backup I took for her is maybe 2 months old so at least some stuff should be saved. Will leave it until the morning to see if the mother has any joy then break the news to the mrs. I've been googling for 4 hours or so but I'm satisfied from your answers now So annoying but actually a great security tool to stop your info getting into the wrong hands - fairplay!

The solution here for next time is put a password on the BlackBerry and set a reasonable time out, and don't leave the unit unattended and unlocked.

And do regular backups. If a kid can set a password, nothing to keep him from trying - ten times - to guess one.
