Default setup for multiple Lotus Domino servers - dispersed

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all

we have recently implemented BES 4.1 in our Lotus Domino 7 domain on one of our servers and it is working great.

We have a decent sized, geographically dispersed, Domino domain and need to setup another BES server in our Singapore office (the Link to Singapore is too slow to use the BES server in Melbourne efficiently) and I am just wondering how we do it.

It will be in the same Domino Domain, but it will just handle the users who have a mail file on the Singapore Domino server and they will source their own blackberry's locally.

Do I install it again on the Singapore server as a new, full install which will monitor the mail files there and just route out direct? Is this possible given that there is already a pre existing BES server setup in the domain and so is already in the address book?

I will need to do it in another 3-4 countries after this so I want to make sure we get it right from the start.

Cheers in advance for any help.

You can install as many BES you want into the domain. You install it the same way you installed the first one. The only thing that matters when setting up multiple BES is whether they share the BESMgmt db or not.

Hi, so does that mean that they have to share the BESMgmt db? It is over a slow link and that would probably slow it down and cause latency issues wouldnt it?

Is there a problem having multipli BESMgmt dbs within the one domain?

Cheers,

Jason
