Default Blackberry Internet Services Help Please - 01-19-2008, 01:26 AM

I have a 7130g and i bought it from rediff.com. It seems that it is a T-mobile blackberry. It is unlocked and i have activated BIS(Blackberry Internet Services) on it. It has been 2 weeks since activation but it keeps on saying 'Data Connection Refused'. I am a Bharti Airtel(India) Customer. I called up the blackberry airtel support and they gave me 2-3 troubleshooting steps and they did not work. They said we will not help you since you did not buy the blackberry from Airtel. Can anybody tell me how to fix this error.

Data Connection Refused means that your Blackberry Data Plan with your provider is not provisioned properly.

I checked with them and they say everything is ok from our side.

I'll come back to you on this, rather than speculate. In short you are seeing this because the device is asking to use an APN which you don't have provisioned to your Subscription, or is not mirrored to your Serving GPRS Support Node. Clearly useful to identify the APN the device is requesting so I'll see if this can be I.D'd.

One initial thing, wipe handheld and manually check all third party apps are gone, confirm whether error remains before restoring backup.

cheers

edit - a quick glance through the HRT suggests they all use "blackberry.net" as an APN, if this is the same world over? then likely the device is requesting the right one (still do wipe). In which case see above, either not provisioned to HLR or not mirrored to SGSN (only people with network level access will see this, customer services will not).

Hi, im having a same problem but i'm using BPL. As far as i'm concerned the problem is not with your device or airtel. mine is from swisscom mobile as yours is for t-mobile. find out its from t-mobile of which country (us, uk etc.) call their help line (YUP INTERNATIONAL CALL) and ask them to diassociate your PIN No. & IMEI No. from their BIS database should work. Ijust did it a day back and m still waiting for them to unlock it!!

ziggy, welcome to the forums.

Unlocking your BB from the previous carrier for use on another carrier AND removing the PIN from the previous carrier are two different matters. Removing the PIN from a previous carrier should not take a day, it is normally an instant matter.
