I currently have a Telus account (Canada) and now I am swtiching over to a Blackberry. I got a Blackberry 8830 at a good deal from a friend (It's used, but still good) who no longer uses it.

I was wondering exactly how do I go about getting setup with Telus with the Blackberry and what are the best plans that Telus offers?

I'm not to sure how it all works, but I found some plans that Telus was offering. When I spoke to the lady at the booth she said it's 15/month for email/internet unlimited except you can't use it as a modem, but that seems too good.

Any advice would be great, can't wait to begin using my new crackberry ;)

I used to work for Telus and it is an amazing deal take it right away unless you are planning on using a BES server. That plan is only available for internet email account, gmail or any other pop email accounts.

Well, looking at the TELUS site it says 15/month for unlimited email/web for 3 MONTHS, then it is 4mb / day limit, or I think even as low as 2 mb / day.

I don't get 50+ emails a day, but I get a nice chunk, and I like using other web services like Twitter / Google Maps / Gmail / etc

Would 2mb/day cover the use of these? I just don't want to get stuck on a plan I don't like, because I have no idea how much 2mb/day translates in the mobile world.

According to Telus web site you can only get unlimited email for $15, but some people on BBForums swear they have unlimited Internet, too.

$15 for unlimited email and internet is too good to be true so if you have been offered that deal make sure it is in writing and clearly states unlimited internet (web).
If you get this offer- take it while it lasts. Don't delay, sign today. You can't get anything cheaper than that.

telus did have ul email and data (device only) for 15$ although the data part is not advertised and i think the deals was finishing on the 3 of february although am not sure.

I have a plan called Personal Email, IM & Web 45. This includes:

unltd E-mail
unltd text messaging
unltd instant messaging
unltd web browsing

PLUS

Call display and voice mail.

It is REALLY unlimited. Great plan!
