Default Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender

Please Login to Remove!

Hi. I hope this is the right place to post this.
I have recently cancelled my BB account (with o2 in the UK). Long story...

Anyone who sends an email to me at my normal (ie not at my old BB o2email.co.uk address) address gets this message (below).
Any ideas what I can do to stop it gratefully received! I feel like I am in a Kafka book as o2 say I no longer have an account therefore there is nothing for them to look at to see what is wrong.
It is unbelievably annoying for people who email me 100 times a day!
Thanks
Stephen

You never canceled your BIS account and removed your email from the account?

Or do you have your normal email forwarding to your old o2 account? How is the email getting to the old 02 account?

Try signing in like you would have before and see if you can remove it. Perhaps your o2 account is dead, but your BIS account obviously is not.

Finally, you might try calling 02, and explaining that you have sold or gotten rid of your BlackBerry, and you need the PIN removed from the account.

I wish! When I try to log in to the BIS account it says (correctly, I suppose) that it is suspended).
And o2 say because I don't have an account it can't be happening. But it is.
Crazy...

I'll take a stab...

My guess is that if all email accounts were set up under BIS to be polled and sent to your BB, then when the account was cancelled, the mail would stop trying to be sent to your BB.

However, if any of your email accounts were instead being FORWARDED to the o2email.co.uk BIS address, then those emails would have a bounce message, even though they made it as far as the original account. e.g. if [email address] were being forwarded to [email address], and someone wrote an email to the gmail address, they would get a bounce message, not from gmail (where the message arrived) but from the BIS o2 account (which doesn't exist any more).

I used to have all my emails forwarded to my BIS account for speed, but I later traded that speed for flexibility in my reply-from addresses. Some people use a mixture of both methods.

I had this with a client last week. Wasted a ton of time after I was told "there's definately no forwarding set up from our end". Yeah right!!!!
