Default BESE - Must laptop stay on?

Please Login to Remove!

I probably have no business trying to set this up, but my company doesnt support BB, yet my manager had me buy one before going out of the country (the local IT guys figured his out...), so I'm kind of on my own.

I set up the BESE on my laptop, and everything works great. Until I turn my laptop off- then I stop receiving email.

Is there a way around this? I'd like to receive email when my laptop is off.

Thanks a ton! (I've done searches, and cant find anything).

I'm assuming your talking about somethign like BES Express or the Professional software.

And yes, it does have to be running on a 24/7 machine for it to work. Take a quick second to think about it. you install the software that has to constantly take your e-mail and send it to your blackberry. if you turn the software off, it has no way to foward the e-mail to the device at all.

That type of software is not meant to be run on a laptop on a part time basis. IF you need your e-mail constantly, but can't get the Enterprise software, look into a BIS solution.

This is if your Organizations supports OWA, POP or IMAP. If they don't offer BES this is your only option and it is much better than nothing!
