it would have to be upgraded by RIM first. With the upcoming outages one can only assume they are preparing for it. APAC was a test market (my guess)

What type of email address is that? GMAIL? Yahoo? Hosted?

I see you're on Optus, hopefully ATT will be getting this soon

Did you have to do anything to make it work or HTML started to work by itself?

I did not have to do anything with the service books. I just woke up today and all of my Gmail email conversations had the indentations and my Jcrew advertisements showed the HTML formatting.

Edit: I totally lied - my email settings DO have the HTML options. The setting for "download images automatically" is set to YES but you still have to manually download it for security reasons (so spammers can't see that you address is active!)

Do you have to manually download each and every image? or just say OK on an e-mail level and it downloads all images in that e-mail?

I think having to download each and every image is such a laborious task... Why not "whitelist" e-mail addresses and e-mails from those addresses download images automatically??

No, you can download all images (or just one) with the menu options, but you raise a good point - Gmail allows you to "whitelist" certain "from" addresses so that their images always download for you, but I didn't see a feature like that with this new BIS v2.5.

Must have done it today. As this is done for all Europe almost in the same sequence, and most European carriers seem to have gone live today.

Send yourself the service books... and then see if "support HTML emal option appears in your email options.

why would need the images in your reply? You have the email on your phone already. I think regular email providers remove images on replys as well.....

Woohoo yep its now live in the UK - just resent myself the service books and have HTML e-mail!!

Good times are here

(Still slightly annoying have to go to Menu / Get Images / Yes (to confirm) for every e-mail I want images for, but oh well, I'll take it)

That's why my phone is set to - and it doesn't work. You still have to manually download all images (unless it's an image you've downloaded before, in which case it's cached).

Knowing T-Mobile's tendency to be at the tail end of everything, we'll probably get html email sometime in December!

Maybe it's a provider by provider thing.

Here is an email I just got this morning. The Download images automatically setting is set to "yes."

That's good news indeed. I'm guessing that TMo will put out OS 4.5 a few days later. Does anyone who was upgraded know if the OS was pushed at about the same time as the BIS upgrade? I would guess there would be a delay of a few days to shake out the bugs.

OSs are never pushed. You would have to use some other carrier's 4.5 OS so you would get to experience the whole thing. My guess is, T-Mobile should be releasing their own 4.5 OS (probably a week after next?) which would work perfectly with UMA, WiFi, BT and with just about everything else.

Alternatively, you can just download the latest 4.5 version (sticky link at the top of the your device-specific forum) and install that. Then you'll be one of the first to know when the HTML email is enabled. That's how I found out on Telenor!
