Don't currently have a BB plan on my existing contract (using the PDA plan with an HTC TyTN II) ... need a Blackberry for my upcoming trip to Europe (the only International plan worth getting is a AT&T BB International plan). Was going to wait for the Bold, but looking like that won't happen in time for my trip (mid-July).

Can I modify my account without starting a new contract? I can source a Blackberry pretty easily.

Yes, you can add the BB without a new contract. Just ask the CSR to add that BB International Plan to your account...

C17 is correct the blackberry international plan requires a 1yr contract

That is correct about the one year commitment to keep that data plan in your account unless your company has a contract that states different, like my company we are allowed to add or remove that particular data plan with out a penalty or to even close our account with out been charged the crazy $175 early termination that we all love.
