Default Hotmail- Deleting e-mail from PC inbox does'nt delete on Curve device.. - 07-02-2008, 07:27 PM

I have a VZW CDMA Curve 8330 and am on BIS (2.5). I have my free Hotmail account linked to my phone and it works great. When I read or delete a mail from my device, the same effect goes through to my actual Hotmail inbox. But when I read or delete it initially from my actual Hotmail inbox using a PC, these changes do not carry over to my device. The e-mail will still show as unread or not deleted depending on which I did. Any ideas why this is happening? It works great the other way (device to inbox). The 'reconciliation' function has never seemed to do a THING at all in any situation so I don't know what else to try to fix the issue. I just tested this same thing with my Gmail account that is also linked to my device and it seems that the same thing is happening, deletes and first reads do not carry over to the device. Is this supposed to happen or what? Thanks in advance all.

I am having this same issue with my 8310 on ATT (on BIS 2.5 also, running OS 4.5.0.42).

yeah it sucks..also if you get an e-mail and you go into your hotmail inbox to move the mail to another folder you've made besides the inbox, it will go into the folder in your actual inbox but on the device it is still in the inbox. So if you go deleting it on the device (since you just want it in the hotmail folder you made) it deletes it from the fricken folder in the account as well.
In other words, you cannot put the mail in a custom folder in the actual inbox and then go deleting it from the device inbox (since it will still be there on the device), because it will also delete the mail from that custom folder!! So annoying!

You can set your email prefs to delete on handheld only, thus leaving it on the mail server.

Yeah but I want the mails to delete on the server when it is deleted on the device...

Basically I want the mails to delete from the device when I delete it from the server (which it doesn't do) and vice versa. So there needs to be the ability to be able to reconcile deletes from server to device as well as the removal of an e-mail from the device when it is put into a custom Hotmail folder on the server (since it is no longer in the inbox on the server, so why should it be on the device's inbox?). I thought it used to work that way, like it's supposed to....

anyone else?????????

Deletes on gmail/hotmail account "eventually" get deleted on the BB. It may take up to 6 hours.
