Default Updating firmware on BES will bring problems? - 12-10-2008, 01:06 AM

Hi, im new to the forum...

I got a pearl 8100 firmware 4.2.0.79 from my job, but for what I have read many themes and applications do not run well with that firmware version.

The carrier we are with is telcel and does not offer updates until the one I mentioned (4.2.0.79) so I updated to 4.5 by means of other carrier´s link (Rogers)

Since it´s been a few days they gave me the phone, data service has not activated yet, and enterprise activation therefore has not happened.

My question: Will I have problems with enterprise activation when the moment comes???

Is it commonly forbidden (or punished) updating firmware in BES or this is no major problem??

I only wish retain the update 4.5 and do enterprise activation normally.

Thanks in advance!!!

Wirelessly posted (8300)

Hmm. Depends on your it policy. I have updated my 8700 about 10 times alway the way to 4.2.2 and then back to 4.2.196 (spell check functionality is way awkward if you ask me) as well as 10 other people at my companies. Only do it on a the desktop with your outlook set on and do it from a DM that is "connnected to your messaging system". PM if you want to know more. It has always re+registered my device after updating. Just make sure to leave it plugged via usb until it finishes re-activating

Love the 9000!! It's everything I wanted (minus enough ON BOARD memory)!!
