My setup:
BB curve 8330
Exchange 2003
Outlook 2003
DM v.4.3.0.17.

Issue I am facing:
1. I am not able to receive email from exchange using the redirector on my BB. I see the email auto generated email show up in my inbox and under redirector it goes from pending to device 1 to 0. However no email is received on the BB.
I am able to receive my emails from the gmail account but that is altogether a different ball game. Any advise on how to trouble shoot this ? I have been on with Sprint for a while but they eventually hangup on me .

2. When I try to select specific folders thru DM it just freezes on me and currently I am only able to sync emails from Sent and Inbox folder. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong here ?

Start from scratch. Wipe the device; remove/readd it the BES; reactivate it; test send/receive.

BES = BB enterprise Server ? (not too sure)

IF yes, then we do not have that implemented. I am using a desktop redirector.

Tried doing the wipe part once, no success. Let me give it another shot after I hang up or sprint decides to hang up on me ..

You have DM, Exchange server, Outlook but you do not have BES?

Correct ...switch is being made from treo's to BB but they won't implement BES till end of Q1 next year.

Here's some info I found on the 'net. Hope it helps:


If you have the handheld in the cradle and you selected the option not to forward messages when the handheld is in the cradle, you will not receive any messages on your handheld. Take the handheld out of the cradle to find out if the messages are forwarding properly.

Have you created Microsoft Exchange Inbox assistant rules? If you have set up Inbox Assistant rules that move new messages from the inbox to another folder, they will not be forwarded to your handheld because the Inbox assistant moves them before the Blackberry Desktop Redirector can forward them. Once you delete the Inbox assistant rule, new messages should forward to your handheld.

Have you set filter rules? If you have added some filters in the Redirector Configuration settings, you may have instructed Blackberry Desktop Software to send only certain messages to your handheld. Check the filters to make sure the messages you want to receive are being forwardbox assistant.

Thanks, I have tried those things already. The second issue that I have is actually related to what you wrote below. For now only folders that are sync'ed in to forward email to BB are Inbox and Sent.

If I try to change these folders DM freezes.

That is not trivial for me at this point, I think first step for me is to start getting emails on BB and then work on selecting the folders.

Why not just create a BIS account for now?
