Angry Blackberry Bold No Blackberry service - 05-04-2009, 01:10 PM

Hello All

I have a blackberry bold from the rogers network in Canada unlocked.
I have inserted my Vodafone Spain SIM card in with blackberry service enabled, and i have no blackberry services. i have checked this in another blackberry and it connects fine.
I have checked the phone is open through the sim card options and all seems ok.
I have tried to recive the host books but acording to vodafone.es they can only send them if the blackberry service is connected.
I can connect to the internet through the browser, so i believe the data connection is there.
When i try and register on the bis it tells me that it account is suspended or disabled but i belive that this is because i dont have and host books.

Can anybody please help as its driving me MAD.

Thanks

Hi thanks for that its funny however i got the phone from my sister who works for rogers and it was free so i can still play word mole. And texas holdem 2 is great. Anything constuctive?

Also i have spoke to Vodafone and the phone is not blocked or anything and the error is because it has not been registered with any provider.

you can use the phone to play games and what not, but receiving emails/browsing/bbm.. basically all data services won't work.

over here in india, with vodafone, if you have a new phone (not the sim), and you haven't registered your pin, it won't connect to the bb network. even if you have bb service enabled. maybe you should try that? then possibly it will send the service books? just a suggestion, maybe it works differently in spain.

Please don't think that I will add you to my BBM. I won't. Especially if I get sleazy PM's.

well, for us, we have a separate website to register the pin, send the service books, set up emails etc.. which is the vodafone/blackberry website. i used to have a pearl before, and when i switched to the bold, i had to re-register my pin and enter the IMEI number and even though bb service was rendered on my particular number, it was NOT registered as i had changed devices. Where do you send your host/service books from? is it your local vodafone/bb website? maybe over there they have something to register your pin?

I think it sound like the same setup here i have a vodafone bb server but on that site i get the error the account is suspended or disabled. I send the service books from inside there and for that i need a bb connection.
I think there must be a setting on the bb ie apn settings but i can browes the internet or somethings simalr.
Its still driving me mad but im getting really good at word mole!

The workarounds are great suggestions, but the bottom line is that the device is registered as suspended or stolen. There may be a perfectly reasonable explaination for this. Have you worked this back hrough your sister or vodafone customer care?

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

Yeah i guess it must be suspended i know its not stolen and have spoken to here about this who is going to check it her end. Vodafone spain seem to just try to register it and say no its not working because of no bb service connected. So i am under the impression that it is just a settings problem between a rogers oem and a open/vodafone.es device. Is there a way i can install the open/vodafone.es firmware on there. I have DL it from BB but when i run it it goes through the update but keeps the rogers firmware on it. I know on the Samsung Blackjack i had i could hold down a button and flash it from the BIOS type screen?
Any ideas are most welcome.

Thanks

I'm not sure you could install a different firmware, because you did get it from Rogers, and i'm assuming it's unlocked so you can use your Vodafone sim in there. The software could be downloaded (OS) from any carrier, as long as you delete the vendor.xml file. I could be wrong on the firmware bit.
