ive got a unlocked bb 8520, im using a orange sim and already topping up 5/month for BIS which i dont mind but in most places i get no signal (SOS) which gets really annoying...i know a lot of people with orange and there connection is always atleast 2 bars, mines alway SOS unless im outside

does anyone know if its a problem with anything of mine? shall i call orange

im thinking of getting a vodafone BIS since theyre connection is always good no matter were you are, but was wondering how much is it a month for me to top up?

The only company in the UK (or anywhere else) that allow BIS on PAYG is Orange AFAIK. I would be pleased to hear about it if there are any others.

SOS means you can only make emergency calls. Sounds to me like you are in an area of weak coverage. You really can't compare what other people are getting unless you are standing side-by-side. It could be the device or it could be your location.

You have to look at where you will use the device and then determine which carrier has the best coverage in those areas. All carriers have holes in service.

As for UMA, both the device and your carrier have to have UMA.

I think T-mobile at one point were selling a Pearl on Prepay, which would lead me to think they may be able to offer BIS on Prepay.

Perhaps trying phoning them and asking them if they support Blackberry on prepay and how much it is.
