BIS Gmail Contact Sync
Recently I've had to reload my BlackBerry from scratch. My Contacts were previously sync'ed with GMail using the OTA sync introduced in BIS 2.8
My problem is I can not get the contact sync going again.
A few things I have noticed, might be irrelevant to my issue but I have found them interesting.
1. Options -> Advanced Options -> Enterprise Activation, I was missing that option.. I set my Key Store password and the option appeared.. Weird? Isn't it.
2. Options -> Security Options -> Firewall, my firewall is disabled is blocking an "incorrect encryption key".. I had previously reset the count, tried enabling the OTA Sync and the count increased... So that might be where my issue is. The problem is how do I regenerate my encryption on BIS?
Or do I suck it up and call VZW Tech support...? :cry:
My last resort was to remove the Gmail account in question and then re-add it.
I did that and Sync the started back up like it should.
Try deleting the contact sync app on the BB. go to Google and have the link sent directly to your BB as a text. I had to do that a couple times on my 9800 to get Calendar Sync to work. And make sure you get the right sync for your model. I had an earlier one that wasn't compatible with my 9800. the latest one works fine.
i don't use contact sync, but it would seem it would work like calendar sync. I really doubt that VZW tech support would have a clue, especially since they dumped Google for Bing.
Yea I doubt VZW would have been any help either. I'm sure it would have been a fun conversation though!
I completely forgot about the Google Sync app.
Maybe I will try that to get my Calendar up to Google, at least till BIS 3.2.
After removing and re-adding the BIS account the contact sync kicked in like it was suppose to. Without any duplicates or issues at all.
I'm finally back up and working :-)
