Default Stop Redirector Messages

Please Login to Remove!

I posted this issue in the software forum but haven't found a fix yet. I was (until this morning), using the Desktop Redirector. However, today the Blackberry service just started spamming me incessantly with those [email address] messages. Thousands of those messages, maybe tens of thousands by now, have arrived thus far. I've tried a lot of different things but finally I decided that I would just reconfigure my BB handheld to not even use the redirector. I've removed the desktop service books, had the other service books resent to me, re-sync'ed, rebooted, etc. And yet, the spam keeps coming. I just want it to stop. The only time it seems to stop is when my BB is offline (i.e., no wireless or turned off). If it's on, I get spammed.

How do I get it to stop? If anyone can help me, my Exchange admin would really appreciate it (I have a server-side rule to delete them, but that's still a load on the server).

Why do you have this address set up on BIS? You dont need this at all...

I don't have an address set up in BIS. I had the redirector running and this address is used by the BB service to acknowledge messages that have been delivered through the redirector. Normally, there is one such message for each message delivered and the redirector application deletes them out of the mailbox. Today, I started getting *thousands* of such messages. So, in order to stop the spam, I have stopped the redirector and I no longer have the service books for desktop redirection. It's still spamming me -- in the last half hour or so, there were 335 messages!

Incidentally, I just realized that it's also draining my battery much quicker than normal -- I keep seeing back-and-forth communication between the blackberry and the tower and network messages keep showing up in my Exchange mailbox. It's pretty crazy and I have no idea what to do. I know that if I call Verizon they'll be totally clueless about this. Is there any way to go straight to a BB admin?

Go and look at the other thread you started in RIM Software. I responded with some hints.

you said you stopped the Redirector
diod you remove it? if not do so and this should (as long as you have no dekstop service books) stop the problem
to remove it just install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager as BIS - not BES/Redirector
