Hi,

I just left a large company using a BES for a smaller company with more primitive IT. There are 3 or 4 BB users at the new company (all on Verizon), all of them currently use the redirector to get e-mail to their BB's. The company has an onsite exchange server, in a firewaled network, so they have not been able to configure the BIS to grab their e-mail. The only way into the corporate network is to a) be on site b) use "shortcut to to small business server," which is apparently a MS VPN tool.

I would like to be able to configure my VZW BIS account to receive e-mail from my new work account (w/o the redirector). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Setup a forwarding rule to send the email to your BIS account. Or, get your new company to setup a BES server. You can get the 'Express' version for free, including one free license. Just have to buy a few more licenses to cover the remaining users.

Thanks for the super fast reply. I really appreciate your suggestion. I've tried the forwarding rule in outlook, but without much luck. Do you know if is possible that the outsourced IT person, who setup our exchange server, could have disabled the forwarding rule? (I realize this isn't an exchanger messageboard, but I figured I would ask anyway)

Thanks again for the reply - I will look into the express verson. I was unaware of anything cheaper than the small business edition.

Very possible that the forwarding rule is disabled on the server. I know any kind of forwarding or auto-reply rules are disabled at my employeer.

BES Express is a new offering from RIM within the last 2 months. With just 3-4 people, your probably looking at a few hundred dollars. Here is the link to the BES Express website.

Thanks for the guidance. Last night I became the BES Admin.

If there Exchange server is setup with OWA you can config BIS to use it. I was able to do it for one on my clients. It works great and there is less issues to worry about since there is no desktop redirect.
