Default Blackberry 6750 - Verizon/Internet

Please Login to Remove!

I have for a few years carried a cell phone (VerizonWireless), and a PDA. Several months ago, wanting to streamline things, I bought a used Blackberry 6750 on Ebay, planning to use it as a cell phone and PDA. I activated the unit and found it highly user friendly. I had no desire or need to use this unit to connect to the internet, so I didn't buy a data package from VerizonWireless. A short time after activating the unit, unbeknownst to me, it connected to the internet via my VerizonWireless calling plan, and stayed connected for several days. (I learned that it was connected during a call to VerizonWireless customer service). Needless to say, I had a huge monthly bill from VerizonWireless. They were gracious enough to remove the data portion of the monthly charges, after hearing my explanation. I stopped using the Blackberry at that time for fear of a repeat situation, and re-activated my old cell phone.

I would like to use the Blackberry as I originally intended; as a cell phone/PDA only, without paying the higher monthly fee for a data package with VerizonWireless. Is there a way to set up the Blackberry so it won't/can't connect to the internet without specific keys being pushed? Or does anyone know if VerizonWireless can put some type of block on my phone # to prevent this? I would prefer to set up the unit this way, so that if, in a specific event I wanted to connect, I could. Just so I had total control over the process, and there was no chance of it connecting without my specifically asking it to.
I appreciate your help?
