My pre-emptive apologies if I should have searched further, but I've been looking for several days whenever I get a chance, and can't find an answer t this problem.

I am the only BB user in my small company (a gear-head among technophobes, one might say). We recently changed email servers and ever since BIS is not getting my emails, hence neither is my handheld. Needless to say I'm not using BES, and when I got my 7250 a year ago it just worked like stink and I never had to think about it.

We're still operating by forwarding messages from the old server to the new one, and sometimes I get emails in those few seconds before the transfer takes place. While this is remarkably confusing it shows me that the new server is the problem. I think.

For now I have forwarded messages that come in to the server to the 'me@telus.blackberry.net' address but this seems rather clunky. Any seamless fixes out there?

Maybe I took my baby for granted and she's showing me how much I need her. Well, I miss her and I want her back.

solution 1:

Have your IT set up the forwarding rule on the new server to forward your email to your 'me@telus.blackberry.net'

solution 2:

Depending on what type of account it is (Exchange; POP; etc) you can add the account to your BIS account to poll every 15 minutes.

For example, if you have an Exchange account you can add using OWA; mail connector or using POP/IMAP access

It's a POP account. Does that mean it won't work? I am loth to lose the push buit if I have to I have to, if it works....

Another tidbit, the forwarding I set up wasn't working. I tested with a few messages from an external email and they weren't going either to my notebook, BB, or any web client. Obviously I had to stop that, GOK what I've missed in the last hour or so. Messages were not staying in the regular email account because the script in the forward command is 'redirect', but I don't undersand why they weren't showing up in BIS or the handheld.

Does it not matter that my pop3 server has changed from pop3.xxx.org to mail.yyy.com? I've never exactly understood how that works without server names, but I've also never cared before.

The good news is...I learned what a service book is and had a new one sent. The bad news is it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Can you tell me how to set the BIS account to poll for messages?

OK this was my last best effort. I upgraded the BIS to 2.0 and was delighted to find the advanced settings, which help the server names of my email account. It was wrong, i.e. the 'old' server, and I thought "aha look how smrt I am, I'll just fix it." When I change it to the new one, I get the following error:

"Error occurred during email account validaton. Please check your information and try again."

The informaiton is correct.

Sounds like BIS is checking your POP server but that information is on the old server. The new server is checking the old server and removing those messages.

Try using those details to set up under Outlook Express or another program. If you can connect that way with the exact same details (not something that's already been set up but a brand new connection) then it's problem with BIS trying to connect. Make sure this isn't an internal address you're checking as well.

Contact your provider's BB support. If they cannot resolve it, they will escalate to RIM.
