Default blackberry without BIS service???

Please Login to Remove!

I am concidering purchasing an unlocked berry for GSM
I have my own SIMs for GPRS through my work (GPS tracking)
I want to know what options will not work IF I dont have BIS from my network provider.
Obviously I won't get a username @ blackberry.provider.com email address. Will PIN still work?
My plan is to use SyncML for some application integration.
If I break open the piggy bank and setup a SMB BES will the berry be able to connect?

I know these questions are kind of non main stream, but the data rate plan I get on my sims is far better then the best data plans from Rogers and Fido.

Thanks
Peter

No BlackBerry data plan = no email, PIN, or BES.

Bummer... not the answer I was hoping for.

So other then mb/$$ what does a service provider offer that makes berries useless with out the special "blackberry data plan"?

If there's no way around this, I think I'm going back to a pocket PC.
