New Cingular 8700 BIS issue - please help!
I've got a new Cingular 8700 my biz partner got for me, but when I try Personal Email Setup, I've tried all manner of ways to enter a user ID and password, but it doesn't work. I've gone to the Cingular blackberry start page, and done the same, and no joy. I did manage to seemingly set up a password, and when I request password with my PIN entered, an email gets sent to my Blackberry with the password I made.
- When I try to set up a new account and enter my PIN and IMEI, it says an account already exists for this PIN.
- When I try to login using my password and all sorts of things as my user ID (the PIN, the IMEI, the phone number, etc), it just says check the info and try again.
Cingular didn't help me on the phone because I didn't have the last 4 digits of my biz partners ss#, and now she's incommunicado for a couple of days!
Does anyone have any ideas of how I might be able to log in and set this up?

Sounds like this device is registered on another network (i.e. Verizon, Sprint, etc).
I thought it might be something like that, but it was purchased and setup at a big Cingular store yesterday.
Can you send email from blackberry? If you can, what email address it comes from?
Thanks everyone for chiming in on this; it turns out that the first time I registered a username and password, it DID take, but I received an error as well, so I had thought I had to keep doing it over and over. Basically, operator error. Sorry about that.
Anyway, I now have the BB pushing email from three separate POP accounts, and it is really fabulous!!!
