Hi,
first of all thanks to all the contributors for this forum. It's a bit strange that, in order to understand how my BB device works, I have to browse through a community instead of having proper manuals from my provider (end of useless rant).
I have a BB 8700g, and I find it a great and addictive device

I am a subscriber to Italy's TIM operator, and have no BES but a "free" unlimited data plan through the "blackberry.net" APN.
So far, I had success with using e-mail (worked like a charm), internet browsing (needed a couple of phone calls to the operator before they realized they hadn't enabled my ICS browsing... grrr), and I'm successfully using applications such as Google Maps and Google Talk.
So far, I am completely unable to use any other application which requires internet connectivity (all sorts of IM messengers, NewsClip, midpSSH, even Opera !).
For a test, I used the APN of internet connectivity of TIM (ibox.tim.it) and everything worked, so it isn't an application problem, it's like some sort of configuration is missing from my device.
Any ideas how I can pinpoint the problem and report it ? Operators at TIM seem unable to understand the problem description, let alone solve it...
