Default Intermittent networking difficulty on Blackberry devices

Please Login to Remove!

I am an application developer writing J2ME applications for Verizon Blackberry clients. I am having intermittent difficulty with network connectivity from these clients. I've tried using both HTTP and socket connections on different IP and port combinations.

The behavior is that a single client device in a single geographic area will stop being able to connect to my server. It seems to be relatively random but an effected device is effected for in excess of 24 hours. Other Blackberry devices (different families) running the same application or even the same device family running in say Boston instead of NY continue to work fine. Additionally, a device on another network (say T-Mobile) seems to work fine.

When my application is not working, other applications such as Google Maps Mobile or standard web browsing work fine.

I've looked into specifying a WapGatewayIP and whatnot with my connection but I'm not really excited by that solution nor did my initial naive attempts seem to work with that.

Can you point me in the correct direction to resolve this?
