All our corporate BlackBerry devices have "Data Connection Refused" this morning. When i phoned our service provider (Cable & Wireless Jersey UK) they said it was a problem in Jamaica. How can a problem in Jamaica effect the service here? Any ideas.

I think Cable and Wireless is based out of Jamaica. If all of their traffic is routed through Jamaica then an issue there can cause some issue with any C&W subscriber.

actually C&W is a UK company - C&W Jamaica is a subsidary- they own a lot of the telecom providers throughout the West Indies.

On a related note, however, I am currently in Jamaica where I spend much of my time, and my Cingular (US) BB is not getting any BB service (lowercase gprs) - I have the unlimited int'l BB plan and normally have no problems here at all- anyone else?

I don't see why an issue in Jamaica should affect you, however perhaps C&W have never setup a RIM relay in Jersey and instead switch all BB traffic thur Jamaica so as to avoid this issue.

Can't see what you gain from being with C&W Jersey though - do you not pay roaming rates on every call you make here in the UK? If you're interested in switching to a real uk based provider on either O2 or Vodafone then drop me a line..
