Question BES server serving multiple cell networks

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys!

Our service/support contact for our BES server is with Vodafone UK. Is anyone aware if it's possible to add other Blackberrys on different cell networks to a BES provided by another network?

The reason I ask is that we've got a few European based users who are getting killed with roaming charges for using the phone functions of their blackberry. We'd like to switch them to a local based provider but still managed them using our BES.

Is this possible?

BlackBerry Server does not care which sim card you're using ... it's just data service for it.
We have about 15 different mobile operators across whole EMEA without any issue.
On the other hand ... you might be a little bit in trouble when asking for support other devices than Vodafone ones - you'll have to sort it out with local operators, but it's not a big deal. Usually it's no problem.

Default Another question

Hello Dookie.

I have a rather similar question, user-side.

I own a BB compatible device (Nokia), and am on another network than my company's.

I understand that, provided that I subscribe to the BB option with my carrier, I could join my company's network.

What would be the consequences, in terms of "freedom" of use of my personal device, in particular as regards my personal email accounts (I have 5 separated mailboxes on this device, and can add another BB one) and access to the Internet.

Would I be limited by my company's policy, or not?

What kind of info would my BB Admin have access to, apart from biz emails?
To waht extend would I be limited by my company's policies?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

J

I have a Nokia 9300 with BB connect on an India provider (connecting back to our BES in the United States). According to my management tools, I see "failed" when the BES tries to automatically apply the IT Policy to the device.

I hope this helps.
