Unhappy SMTP Address error when sending on Corp email

This just started in the last week, and I can't seem to determine if it is a Blackberry issue or an exchange issue.
We have our email accounts configured using the Blackberry Internet service. We are using the Mail Connector service, and our email accounts are on an Exchange 2007 server. mail flow works great, and we are able to leave the Mail Connector running on an always on server and not worry about the desktop being logged off. The problem is, if we send an email from the Blackberry either using the address book or as a reply, the Blackberry sends the address as Name (address@mail.com) instead of as [email address].
The exchange server responds that it is an invalid address because of the Name and brackets.
I can work around it by sending from a different email address, or by stripping out the email address from my Blackberry address book thus forcing the SMTP address to be manually entered.
Any insight would be appreciated.
