Default New (cheaper) Blackberry plan at T-mobile?

Please Login to Remove!

A $29,95/month data plan when added to a voice plan. Is this new?

I don't know if it's new, but when I went to the t-mobile store today, the CS said that there I could choose between a 19.95 plan and 29.95 plan when adding to the voice plan. I still haven't been able to find the 19.95 plan.

And the 7100t comes out tomorrow morning.

Both Blackberry Plans are available on their own or as an "add-on" to an existing voice plan. When adding to any new or existing voiceplan of $34.99/mo, the BB plan is $10 less. The difference between the two:

Individual Use Price Point
$29.99/mo ($19.99/mo add-on)=
Unlimited Web browsing & BlackBerry Web Client e-mail access

Corporate Use Price Point
$39.99/mo ($29.99/mo add-on) =
Unlimited Web browsing & BlackBerry Web Client e-mail access & BlackBerry Enterprise Server access

Actually.....the voice plan is the add on for the voice plan. Blackberry plan has to be the master plan, with a $10 deduction in price when a voiceplan is added. Essentially it's the same thing, but system wise the blackberry plan is the master plan, voice is the add-on.

Maybe someone can help me out with this...

If instead of purchasing the Blackberry Minutes & Mail plan, I purchase the Get More Plus (1000 whenever minutes + unlimited nights and weekends) and the 19.99 Blackberry Unlimited Add-on, does that include text and instant messaging or will I still need to purchase the "Unlimited Text and/or Instant Messaging for 9.99?

This whole IM/SMS issue has gotten me all confused.

Ok so what is the skinny with this. I have had this 7230 for less then a month and would like to change if there is no difference. I pay $40 now and would save $10.

Can anyone see any? T-Mobile can not.

If you get the big "Minutes and Mail" bundles, you have unlimited SMS.

If you add the 19.99 "no BES access" plan to a voice plan you like, that's fine, if all you want is BWC.

If you want to talk to a BES you need the 29.99 plan, which I don't understand, since I don't see how T-Mobile knows if you are using a BES or not!

I made the change to the cheaper plan becaues there is no difference. On another formn they said they had problems with the change but I did not even have to register.

There seems to be two plans now for blackberry only, one with BES and one without and the price is 39.99 and 29.99. I do not see having BES for a while so I went with the cheaper plan.

Strange thing is that my old plan (1 month old) was called Blackberry Unlimited Email and the new one is Blackberry Unlimited. Difference?? is $10.

Also it seems that now you can get no voice which cost you no more or less. Good for people who do not want to get a sales call that will cost them 20 cents.

Update ... It seems that after when you change the plan the have to reprovision the account. That means that they have reset your account.

It seems that the email works fine but internet (t-zone) has stopped working. They said it will take 24-48 hours which is what it took when I got the unit.

Not a big deal but just something you have to consider if you do it.

I still want to know how T-Mobile gets off billing people ten dollars for using their bberry with a BES.

They have to be making that up.

If you get your voice plan, then add then 19.99 BlackBerry Unlimited Add-on, do you get unlimited instant messaging or will I need to add another 9.99 to the bill to get unlimited messaging?

Maybe a better question is: Have we figured out if AIM messaging is considered SMS or part of the BWC client?

I finally got my aim & yahoo IM working, and have the Minutes & mail (1000 minutes, unlimited data/internet). T-Mobile has stated repeatedly to me that sms as well as IM's are covered.

When I talked to T-Mobile, the rep said that the IM client does use SMS, but it doesn't count against your messages. In other words, with the BB unlimited plan, you get unlimited messaging. I hope the rep is right, or else T-Mobile will be hearing from me.

Also, they listed the plan as "Free" when i logged into my control panel on T-Mobile. I sure hope it's free!

I was told by the T-mobile rep that sold me my 7230 that the $30 Blackberry plan came with unlimited SMS but on the website it says it only comes with 300 and when I log in to T-mobile and view my plan it says I have 300.
