Default Is 3g CDMA inferior to 3g GSM?

Please Login to Remove!

I've been hearing some rumors that CDMA doesn't provide for as fast and stable 3g connections as GSM. At first I thought these were simply Sprint/Verizon haters but I wanted some more insight. Does anyone here have any info on the subject? Thanks.

GSM tends to have a redundancy built in IF 3G isnt up and running you fall back to EDGE and then to GPRS.

CDMA I think if 3G isnt workin you are dataless

not 100 % on this

If 3G on CDMA networks is called EVDO (Evolution Data Optimized or some marketing BS) if you're outside of EVDO coverage it'll fall back to 1x, which is like EDGE.

There are EVDO BlackBerries available from CDMA carriers in North America, but no 3G BlackBerries from GSM carriers in North America. Yet. Also, at least in Canada where I live, there's a larger EVDO coverage footprint than that for 3GSM.
