You'd have to be a blind man not to, but denial is one of the most powerful forces in the universe. I suspect it's mainly denial that got Rim where they are right now. Denial as in "we don't need to compete against the iPhone or Android". I read the denial here for a couple of years - "the BB is for "serious" users, the iPhone is a toy" and "enterprises won't switch to the iPhone or Android".

This is an astounding statistic, a company almost has to try to be bad to achieve this:
"The BlackBerrys share of the smartphone market in the US dropped to 10 percent in 2011 from 49 percent in 2009, according to Canalys, a research firm."
