I think this is a non-starter. Both the Canadian and US Governments would object.

And I object! That would make me put down the Kool-Aid.

The current administration wouldn't give a flip about it. Not an issue they are concerned about nor one they understand.

I may be wrong, but I do not think that The Committee on Foreign Investment in U.S. (CFIUS) has any jurisdiction here

Can't comment about Canadian rules on foreign investment

It's the security folks that would be concerned.

And you think that would stop them from making their views known? LOL....

WSJ posted this. It seems CFIUS believes they have a say.

A Lenovo-BlackBerry Deal Would Get a U.S. Review - Wall Street Journal - WSJ.com

And I'd be willing to bet the Canadian government will want their say too.

CFIUS can believe whatever they like. Last time the US government got involved with BB was in 2009, when Obama was allowed to keep his BB as long as his messages conformed to the Presidential Records Act.

The Canadian Government, under the Investment Canada Act, can and will, when necessary, prevent the sale of any asset which it classifies as a National Security interest.
