althRamp develops and markets the CarePoint and CareGiver technology suites, while RxRite markets an electronic prescribing application for BlackBerry, created by Research In Motion (RIM).
As part of the partnership, RxRite said it will develop a version of CarePoint for BlackBerry devices utilizing HealthRamp's point-of-care technology architecture.
The product is expected to be released in the early 2nd quarter of this year.
The version of CarePoint for BlackBerry will include the availability of patient-specific formulary (prescription drug coverage information), patient medication history, warnings to indicate potential adverse drug events and the secure transmission of a prescription to the patient's pharmacy of choice.
Andrew Brown, Ramp CEO, said: "By adding BlackBerry to our arsenal of support devices, we expect to significantly increase our opportunities for physician adoption and technology partnerships."
