A Look at the Next Wave of Smartphones

Smartphones combine the features of a PDA with that of a cell phone.*They used to be for the suit-wearing sect that needed to be on top of their email, calendar, and contacts everywhere they went.* Perhaps keep an eye on the stock portfolio.*Then there are the rest of us that can only afford 10 shares of any stock listed on the major exchanges.*The latest smartphones are for everybody or at least they try.

I don't think that quote was any more true to the point then on my last business trip. I was in Ottawa two weeks ago for a tech fair hosted by one of my clients. Through out the airport and tech fair you'd think there was a Blackberry convention going on... Bell, Rogers, Verizon, TMo pick a carrier they we're BB's everywhere. What I found to more interesting was a couple college students on my returning flight one with a BB and another with a Treo as well as a mother with child also communicating with a Blackberry.

The quote stated that "they used to be" meaning they arent anymore, so for your last business trip, the quote was true.

I've got about 13various "smartphones" sitting on my desk right now... Treo's, Kyocera's, Palm's, etc...

They've been sitting there for about 7 months now while my blackberry goes everywhere with me. I still don't see much advantage in them...
