Default Wi-Fi on BlackBerry - 8820 sooner than you thought? - 05-30-2007, 03:52 PM

Well, Engadget’s got their grubby mitts on the upcoming BlackBerry, which is, in short, 8800 + Wi-Fi. A small upgrade, but a huge one at the same time. Folks have been clamoring for for this for some time now.

So, and this is just an assumption, this must mean that the 8820 will come with WiFi and GPS hardware. If so, then I will be a happy man. Even happier if T-Mobile gets it soon. T-Mobile has been very reliable where I live and being able to have a BlackBerry with expandable memory, WiFi & GPS will be great.

Default Questioning Need for WiFi ? - 06-01-2007, 06:51 PM

Here is an excerpt:

" Worldwide, shipments of mobile handsets rose 27% between 2005 and 2006, while single- and dual-mode Wi-Fi sets combined skyrocketed 489%. From 2007 to 2010, mobile handset shipments will grow another 26%, Infonetics forecasts, and Wi-Fi shipments will increase by a massive 1,300%. "

Dual-mode Wi-Fi and cellular phones to grow

Personally I'm very eager to have a WiFi equipped BB. I use WiFi everywhere - everyday.

Cheers....

I heard on the radio, cant remember what it was, but the RIM CEO said they would issue a consumber based, dual mode, GSM WiFi device my 3rd quarter of this year. They apparently have made WiFi only devices, but dual mode cell phones/WiFi will be shipping soon!
