ATLANTA – Cingular and Research In Motion, the developer of the BlackBerry, have joined forces to launch a mobile telephone and wireless device that will operate across international markets.
The so-called Quad-Band is the BlackBerry 7290. It includes Bluetooth technology for wireless access to mobile headsets and other devices.
The device is an exclusive offering from Cingular in the US. It offers voice, email, short messaging services, an organizer, web browsing, and access to corporate network capabilities.
"International roaming for voice and data is the next horizon for mobile professionals," said Jim Ryan, vice president of data product management and business marketing at Cingular, in a statement.xx"With the BlackBerry 7290, Cingular customers can take advantage of our substantial international capabilities today and enjoy even greater coverage in the future as our footprint grows."
