Visit Nokia Biz website using WIFI on your E51 > Choose BB client download > Choose region > America's, Operator > Other's* , Device > Nokia E90

then download > Nokia S60 BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 7.45.1(.SISX, 2,89 MB)

and Install. I have tried and tested it with Fido BB data plan here in Canada. Works like a charm.

Good Luck!!

Thumbs up Nokia E51 & Blackberry Connect Support - 12-21-2007, 07:19 AM

Hi

I use a Nokia E51 and followed the instructions above, however they did not work for me by downloading directly on to the phone, however downloading the version you said V7.45.1 from the E90 section under other networks to my PC and then installing it on to the phone worked a treat.

I use Vodafone in the UK, and have installed the latest Nokia Blackberry desktop software and v7.45.1 for the E51 and it started working as soon as I generated the key.

What a performance boost, the E50 was good, but the E51 just blows the E50 away in performance terms, the blue bar that moves from left to right whilst you are waiting for an email to load up, for a few seconds on the E50 takes less than 1/2 Second on the E50 just a quick flash of the blue bar..

Well done for finding out that this version worked with the E51.

Andrew

I have installed V7.45.1 as mentioned from America option for E90...etc etc.

Now can someone walk me through after that?

It gives me a message that enterprise activation is required and i should input email and password as provided by my IT admin. ( I need to use BIS and not BES)

Also in device details I don't have any PIN, which I require with the IMEI IMSI details to activate the BB service plan from my operator.

I am missing something or is my E51 crooked?

Hi All,

I am looking at trialling the Nokia E51's for my organisation and was wondering whether you could tell me about your experiences with the handset and BES?
What are the good features and what doesn't work so well?
How are the OTA reconciliation features?
Any guidance here would be appreciated.

Hello,

I would like to answer some of the questions posted, and make some additional comments.

1. If we are comparing E50 vs. E51, besides the better E51 performance, E51 supports BB Connect 4.0 client vs. BB Connect 2.1 supported by E50. Connect 4.0 is packed with additional features aimed at enterprise account activation including:
Contact sync
Attachment viewing
Create/Send/Accept meeting request
Remote Address Lookup
Folder redirection
Filters/Out of Office/Signature all settable from device
OTA Enterprise activation
Wireless Calendar bulk load
Various IT Policies supported

2. When prompted for "Enterprise Activation", say "No" for BIS account, then go to your carrier's web site where you enter device PIN number, your BIS email address and password. You'll find PIN number in BBC Settings once you install the client.

3. OTA reconciliation: Only "Server wins" conflict supported. Email message read/unread flags supported, as well as delete message on device. Email messages going directly to personal folders created on server are all redirected to Blackberry mailbox on device, however folder management is not supported, as Symbian does not currently support folder nesting. Send messages from device are synced to server as well, if configured in BBC settings.

Hope this help,

Rob

Default E51 Problems - 02-22-2008, 12:24 PM

Hi,

We run Microsoft exchange server and have blackberry licenses set up. Our administrator sent me an activation password and I set up no problem. I then had to reset my phone, so needed to set up again. I have not been able to reactivate. I asked our administartor to reset my account. I've reinstalled BBC many times and I keep getting an error.

I'm getting really frustrated and think I will give up. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ken

Default BIS Setup video for E51 - 02-25-2008, 04:45 AM

Hi,

I helped pull together a BIS setup video for the E51 in case anyone is interested in seeing how the new BlackBerry Connect software works on the E51.

It's hosted on www.YouTube.com/bizemail

Cheers,

Lee

Hi Rob and others..
I've been trying to get BBC on my E51 to work with our BES without much luck.

-BB plan is OK
-BBC Install is OK
-Account is enable on BES
-got my PW from my BES Adm.
-On activation: Encryption verified but..
--Activation keeps failing with: "An error has occurred.." and "Your account is not authorized for Enterprise Activation"?
-If wrong password is used then "wrong password" msg. is displayed??
-If to many retry's is excited "Allowed # of PW attempts has been reached.." msg is displayed???

My question:
1: Is any further config of the BBC possible/necessary?
2: Should something be configured on the BES apart from running regular BB Devices??

Any help is greatly appreciated..

Regards,
Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

during Enterprise Activation the device acts as a dummy, it only does what told by BES server. Message "Your account is not authorized for Enterprise Activation"? is sent by BES, and so you need to talk to your BES admin. You don't need to do anything on device, and BES is device agnostic, there is no setting for BB or non-BB device. You can also install BBConfig tool to your desktop, and activate your device this way. It will download all the service books to your device, and the rest is done over the air.
