Would RIM bring BBC to the iPhone? -

With Apple's announcement that an iPhone SDK will be out this February, I wonder if RIM will work up a version of Blackberry Connect for the iPhone. I could see that happening, and would think that Apple would encourage it as it would mean pushing the iPhone into the enterprise market.
Just a thought.

Don't know, although personally I don't see why BBC even exists as a product. If you look at RIM's financial reports, they always show the majority of revenue comes from handset sales, so if this is the case why write a version of your client to run on Windows devices....your competitors??? The iPhone is of course not really as much a BlackBerry competitor as Windows Mobile, but the whole thing seems insane to me anyway so I wouldn't be surprised to see it!!

well it makes financial sense. Yes we own 40% of the market, but why not get money from the other 60%? even if it is just a little money each month, that makes quite a bit of cash overall. as the fastest growing PDA device on the market, the iphone would be a perfect device to install the client on. It also helps show iphone users the potential benefits of the blackberry, and may cause some to switch.
RIM also gets royalty from service providers offering BIS/ BES plans. So more devices having BBC installed, more the revenue.
Thats the logic behind BBC client for competitors devices.
