Default Nokia E90 - 03-18-2008, 11:48 PM

Hi,

I saw the following comments for E90 in Symbian forum for E90.

- Enterprise activation NOT like any normal blackberry device.
- Remote password and wipe WILL NOT WORK by the Blackberry admin.
- NOT supporting all blackberry attachments.

Can someone confirm everything above is true?

If remote wipe can't work on the Nokia it will be a serious potential breach, I think.

Regards.

1) Not certain on that, my paranoid BES admins wouldn't ever let me join an S60 or S80 device to the BES.
2) It will not work when initiated at the BES admin level, but there are other options for managing/nuking Nokia handsets remotely. Your Nokia Enterprise rep can help you with that.
3) What "BlackBerry attachments"?

I think by means of Blackberry attachments, it refers to all sorts of attachment format that BB supports, DOC, XLS, PDF, PPT, you name it...

I really doubt it.

Last time I used the BB connectoid on non-RIM hardware it showed up as a normal mailbox like a typical IMAP account would, and used local client-side software to view attachments.

Every S60 device available today comes with viewers for DOC, XLS, PDF, PPT, etc. I've even done a presentation off an S60 handset using the video out on the phone to a projector.

I'm not sure what the limitation could possibly be.

Personallly, if you are on exchange, use Mail for Exchange from Nokia. It is much better and is actively supported.

Mail for Exchange is limited as well. Unlike the way it works on Windows Mobile devices, Exchange on the Nokia did not allow me any folders other than the Inbox to be synchronized. No Inbox subfolders, Sent messages, Junk mail, or any other folder was synchronized. It works, but really isn't good enough.

In regard to BB Connect on the Nokia and security: Is it really true that the device cannot be remotely wiped?

BB-connect is horrible with attachments, so it's sort of useless to use in BES environments.
