Default Has anyone configured a 6820/6822 with a BES? - 09-07-2005, 09:31 AM

I have used the BlackBerry Configuration Tool and the BES notes the correct PIN. I remain unable to send or receive email: I get an error message reading "Unable to Send E-mail". All other features of the phone work fine, including SMS, mobile web, etc. Any ideas?

thanks,
elbastardocalvo

Here's our solution: we deleted my profile on the BES, and created a new profile, using the 6822. Voila, everything works as intended.

Did you ever end up getting the 6822 with BB Connect configured, set-up, and operating correctly with BES? If so, what has been your experience thus far?

I got it working as intended, though I will be returning the 6822 due to limitations built in to (or, more accurately, omitted from) the BB client. The most glaring: the Nokia BB client is incapable of wirelessly reconciling e-mail on a BES. It sends and receives fine (i.e. sent and received e-mail appear in the correct folders on the exchange server/outlook client), but email read and deleted on the handheld will not delete on the exchange server. Without the ability to enable wireless reconciliation on the handheld (which the archaic client in the 6822 lacks) there is no way to set up that feature. None. This was confirmed to me by both Nokia and RIM tech support, as well as my BES admin.

As someone who gets 100 or so emails a day, a lack of true email reconciliation became a deal breaker, despite the terrific form factor. Anyone who gets more than 100 messages (and many, many people do) will have a problem with this.

I also missed the wireless syncing of the address book and calendar, though these were not as big a problem.

In then end, I am going back to my 7100g, despite its flaws.

Thanks or the feedback. This is very helpful. I had just ordered a 6822 but will likely now cancel my order as I have the same requirement as you. What good is it working with the BES if it does not delete emails on the server that are processed on the client? I am currently using GoodLink on the Samsung i730 and was considering this as a weekend or more portable alternative while keeping the i730 for data use only (since its phone feature sucks when using a push data service that always bothers it, yet it has Wi-Fi and great 3G radio with EVDO). Someday, someone, will get it all correct.
