Post BB Connect for Nokia E90 Latest Upgrade 300.34.84 - 10-16-2008, 02:22 PM

I am using BB Connect on my E90 with 210.34.75. Recently Nokia has released 300.34.84 as the latest firmware.

I don't want to loose my BB functionality at the same time want to upgrade.

I just saw a new BB Connect at Nokia Business Softwrae Site that says as below:

Nokia S60 BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1(.SISX, 2,89 MB)

NOTE: You need software version 300.34.84 on your device. This client is for BlackBerry Connect 4.0. You may use the BlackBerry Connect Desktop software for your PC (see below) to provision your phone but it is not necessary because BlackBerry Connect 4.0 is able to perform Over The Air Enterprise Activation.

Has anyone updated their BB Connect client after updating to 300.34.84 with this BB Connect Software (8.23.1).

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks Daniel. Since you have tested and its working on your e90, I will go ahead and upgrade and use the new bb connect. Is there any other caveats I should know, before I go ahead.

Default Works at last - 10-17-2008, 09:01 AM

I fell into the trap of upgrading to 300.34.84 when changing operator to 'clean' the phone and found BB Connect not working. I can confirm that 8.23 fixes the problem.

Now for the E71!

Hi I mostly lurk around.

I own E90 and I am very happy with it.

I have few question for people who are able to keep up with my ignorance.

I am not a techy guy as you can gather.

Here are my questions:

If I decide to upgrade to the latest firmware is there a chance to lose all the software I installed?

I used to have a blackberry, but I don't know what is this BB, I read a bit about it, but I don't understand the purpose, please bear with me, I have a google push up email address? I don't know if I am right to call it like that, what is the difference between having a BB and the email address I have?

And while I am at it, I still don't get how to copy and paste even when I use the note application, how do I highlight what I need to copy? not that is incredibly urgent but it would be nice if someone can tell me in plain English how it works.

Sorry if I have derailed a bit from the actual topic.

Thastme:

BB stands for blackberry. BB Connect is used to define Blackberry Connect (a piece of software released by Phone manufaturersto give Blackberry connectivity)software on non blackberry phones like E90 and others. If you took backup before you upgrdaed, you shoul dbe able to restore most of the software. few softwares may have issue if it was installed previously with expired certificate. but most software should work after restore. I usually backup my critical data from MicroSD HC card and when I upgrade I reformat and re-install all my apps again. It doesn't take much time and then copy my data back, like music, videos, themes, documents, pdfs etc.

Hope it helps.

Yup it did.
I just wonder if it really worth, since I am so used to the way it is and for whatever reason something happen I dont want to go thorugh a world I don't understand complitely, it took me almost half a year to be comfortable with what I have on my device, I changed few as I mentioned earlier on, Blackberry was great, but I needed something like the E90, if the BB works similarly as the Blackberry that would be a plus.
Much appreciated

Cheers

i upgraded to the latest firmware and BB client. using AT&T with BES in Arizona and all works fine.

yeah, be sure to backup with nokia PC suite prior. 'most' settings will be saved.

use the latest pc Suite also.

slight improvements including nokia maps, video conversion.

only issue i ever have with BB connect is lack of attachment viewing/editing.

but works fine with e90. with the AT&T BB connect plan, you also get unlimited internet, although at edge speed in the US.

Default Copy & Paste - 11-09-2008, 02:26 AM

To copy, you use the "Shift" Key / "Arrow Up" key (2nd keyboard button from bottom leftmost column), and the navigation arrows AT THE SAME TIME.

You can also use <Ctrl-A> to select all the text.

Then use <Ctrl-C> to copy and <Ctrl-V> to paste.
