Default Help! Can't synchronize contacts with my SK65

Hi all,

I've been looking all through the forum and faq's, and haven't yet found a reference regarding the problem I am having (sorry if I just missed it somewhere).

I just purchased a slightly used SK65 from a friend in Europe, and I can't get the contacts to synch. The phone, email, and wireless calendar all work great. I get a connection to MPM, the BB Desktop Built-In, and the Desktop Manager 4.0 that I installed over it. However, when I use the SmartSynch function to try to synch the contacts, it connects to read the entries in Outlook, but then tells me there is no connection with the phone when it goes to transfer those contacts. I get a similar message when I try to copy an entry from Outlook to the Address Book in the Contacts screen of MPM. Desktop Manager 4.0 appears to transfer some general files around, but doesn't synch any of the contacts despite having the PIM settings set up correctly.

Any idea what might be going on here? I have tried using both the DCA-510 data cable and IR port to no avail (my computer doesn't have Bluetooth). I have also downloaded, installed, and reinstalled the newest version of MPM from the Siemens website, and reinstalled the data cable drivers.

Are you trying to sync your contacts through the BB Desktop Manager? That will never work. It is stated in the documentation that it can only be done through the Siemens Phone manager. And do you have the BB Desktop running at the same time as the siemens phone manager? That is said to cause problems with syncing as well.

Do you know how to sync Outlook calendar to the SK65 Calendar. Having a tough time doing that so please help if you can??

I have a sk65 and it worked perfectly (MPM sync etc) until about 10 days ago when the contacts issue, describe by yourself, materialised. Exactly the same problem. This used to work fine on my XP Outlook 2003 machine - and seemed to break coincidentally the same time as a load of security patches were applied. I have tried uninstall, downloaded the latest MPM from Siemens etc with no luck (I even tried firmware upgrade!) - and every time I try all the contacts are wiped from the phone. The only way I have of getting the sync to work is I have installed MPM software on a colleagues machine who is running W2K Outlook2000 and it works fine there. If you solve the XP / 2003 issue ....please post solution. By the way calendar is done wirelessly through Blackberry I had to take the tick out off the sync Calendar option / Apply / then tick once again / Apply to actually kick the thing off.
