Default Blackberry Connect on HTC Touch pro 2 - 10-20-2009, 01:15 PM

Hi,

I am thinking of moving to the HTC Touch pro 2 from a BB Bold but I would still like to use BIS. Does anyone know if I can still use BB email with the HTC touch pro 2? Does the BB Connect software work with this phone?

Thanks in advance.

Check out the XDA Developers website - they are the authorities in Windows Mobile devices. You will have to use BlackBerry Connect software version 4.0.0.106 is the latest that works with HTC Touch Pro. One catch, the Touch Pro 2 (Rhodium) has to be tweaked to think it is a Touch Pro (or a Raphael). There is a small program posted in the XDA forum (sorry to late to find it for you). There you will find the instructions.

Good luck.

Is there a particular reason that you want to continue to use BIS aside from push email?

If push is the main requirement then there is another option that will work VERY well with the Touch Pro 2. Seven email is the name of the company that provides it and it is free. I am using their service with two Gmail accounts and the push email works quite well. Messages are arriving on my Touch Pro 2 via Seven at the same time as they are arriving on the BlackBerry with the same email accounts.

pinhead, can you elaborate on that a little bit more. How exactly does it work and how is Seven supported if it is free? Also is it HTML or text only? For example when I hit reply, does it actually reply from the device/phone or does it reply from the server like BIS (even if I don't ahve all the e-mail on my BB, it can still include it in reply)

I love WM devices, and I actually love the newer Touch series, but I just cannot jump over leaving my beloved BIS push e-mail.
