Default MS Push and E61 - 06-11-2006, 02:47 AM

Hi all,

I am trying to get this MS push thing up and running on my E61. In fact, I would never do so, but its a customer request, someone who wants to replace his BB with MS push, so I have to

I got it up and running with a MS Mobile 5 device, but it does not work on the E61. On the Mobile 5 device it was necessary to install a certificate, the same which is used when you use OWA. The EXCH servers address is the same like the OWA address, but this does not work on the E61. When I enter the OWA address as the servers address, I always receive a WRONG SERVER ADDRESS error ...

Someone here who had the same problem, but solved it?

Thanks
Oliver

Default MS Exchange Push on E61 - 06-11-2006, 09:14 AM

I was able to get MS Exchange Push mail to work on the E61 in about 5 minutes.

I use the MS Push email and calendar function and it works well.

See if you can access the OWA address via the E61 browser - if that works the client should work.

If you can get it to work send me your email address and some of our technical staff may be able to help with the MS Exchange issue.

Thanks - FLG>>>

Are you using the Mail for Exchange software on the handheld? For the Exchange Server setting, be sure not to include 'https://'.

Simply use mail.yourexchangeservername.com

I hope that helps--good luck.

Hi all, thanks for the tips. The problem was the firmware of the device. After updating, it works now.

Thats what the beauty of the device was, Nokia wanted to be a solution for all environments. So people would not be held back by a certain type of email solution.

The E61 doesn't support MSFT Push. MSFT Push only works on Windows Mobile 5 devices. Now, you can set up Exchange wireless email using AUTD (the older, triggered pull version), but not push.

The Mail for Exchange client software that comes with the E61 does not support MSFT Direct Push however Dataviz just released a RoadSync client for the E61 which does support Direct Push and GAL. It is the S60 version of the client software I'm using on the SE M600i (UIQ3). I haven't tried it on my E61 yet but I hope it's not as buggy as the UIQ3 version.

See the article here:
http://www.dataviz.com/news/press/pr...d=153&product=

or

download trial software here:
http://www.dataviz.com/downloads/demo/download.html

I hope that helps and I'm looking forward to reading someone's review on it in comparison to the Mail for Exchange client.

The previous statement about the Mail For Exchange client software is not true. The Mail For Exchange client DOES support MSFT Direct Push. Set your sync schedule setting to "Always Online" to enable this feature.

I'm using the Mail for Exchange client on my Nokia E70. So far so good, but if I set it to "Always Online", my battery life lasts only for roughly a day. I am still awaiting the Blackberry Connect client for the E70.

Has anybody compared battery life on the Nokia E61 using the Blackberry Connect client and the Mail for Exchange client? Does it matter??
