Talking anyone know when TMO UK will start supporting BB Connect on MDA VARIO. - 07-28-2006, 06:25 AM

Guys... I switched from a (old) blackberry device and purchased the MDA Vario from T-mobile after been told that bbconnect software was available for it.

I installed the software and tried to register/change handheld pin online with t-mobile to find that pin is invalid.

after 45mins on hold and a further 20mins this morning, i got a call back from the escalations team to say that that they stopped supporting bbconnect on non rim devices ...until a new/stable version was out. arghhhhhhh!!!!

Any idea when this will happen...i love the look and feel of the vario but i would hate to go back to my 7230 with cracked screen.

Cheers
Razza

I can't see it ever happening. If the device is non-RIM then RIM won't help. If it's RIM software on 'x' manufacturers hardware, then I can't see the manufacturer helping as the software would be classed as third party. And there in lies the entire problem with BB Connect!!!

thanks....Looks like i have bought a do-do ....t-mobile did for a while support the MDA pro but withdrew that. someone had suggested to find a way how to transpose the pin from the 7230 onto the mda vario...the network would recognise the pin and send messages to the vario thinking its the 7230. is that possible? my understanding was that the pin was linked to the imei number? so by my recoking wouldn't that be a security risk.

Any idea how i could pursuade tmo to let me register the vario pin on the network without supporting it?

I don't think the PIN is your issue.

The BB Connect client software simply isn't installed or available on a MDA Vario as far as I know. The MDA Compact (version 1) used to have it, I think.

So you're stuck with Microsoft push if you have Exchange, or pull if you don't.
