Default is there a network outage...tmo (chicago) - 03-09-2005, 03:21 AM

whats the difference among GSM, gprs, and GPRS. Im askin because I was expecting a IM via verichat.. I looked at my screen and GSM was displayed instead of the usual GPRS.. How would I be able to tell if its a network problem or device problem... I powered my 7100t on/off and removed/replaced the battery ... still the same GSM. Is there a site or number to call to check to see if there are any network outages.....

when your blackberry drops to lower case gprs it means that it has lost connection to the RIM relay. If it drops to GSM you may have gone out of coverage or the gprs network was down. a hard reset will cure the problem by taking the battery out without turning the handheld off and and then replacing it. also you could go to settings and go to host routing table open it up and click on the entry and click register now. if they dont work contact your air time provider as there is most likely a network outage. : P

It has to be a network outage in chicago because i've been in the GSM network since early this morning at about 8 am. i turned off my phone, and i still had GSM service. i'm glad i'm not the only one in chicago. i thought something was wrong with my phone!
