Dopod C730 and BB Connect 4.0 work prefect -
06-10-2007, 12:17 AM
I just got the Dopod C730 and downloaded BB connect 4.0 and it work prefect. C730 is running on WM6 Standard which is the smartphone version not the PPC version. Most of the bug on the older version gone and man its fast. The keypad on the C730 is a lot better than the BB 8800 and it now can type Chinese.
I dump my 8800 because RIM don't support Mac User

May I ask where you downloaded your BB Connect? Cos I've tried a few downloads and after I installed the BB Connect Client, they dont seem to give me a PIN, (Always PIN Pending)
Cheers

ok i installed the BB connect 4.0 which I downloaded a couple of weeks ago(which did not work on my device, kept on giving me a PIN Pending)
and somehow it works now... and it is generating a PIN for me, so this PIN generation part must be server side I guess...

May I ask where you downloaded BB Connect from? I was under the impression that Dopod wasn't releasing the official C730 BB Connect until early July.
Also, is it still the case that opening another internet app like IE interrupts BB connect? Does this mean that Windows Live mail push email and BB Connect can't coexist?
Thanks

Yes, both BIS and BES works fine with 4.0.
And IE does not interrupt BES connection on my HTC S621. With 4.0, there is Internet Browser and Blackberry Browser installed (provided you have a BES account). So you can now use MDS. On the background, it installs two proxy addresses and when you run the Internet Browser or Blackberry Browsers, it runs IE with appropriate proxy settings.
Also, apps like Newsbreak was working fine, I didnt have to define a different APN, it was going via blackberry.net. For Windows Live and ActiveSync, I had to define the carrier's APN (internet.com, my carrier is Rogers). But even when I was using Windows Live, Blackberry messages were coming in fine. I believe with new radio on the new devices, it is able to connect to both APNs and manage data. But even with older devices, many apps would be able to connect to the net via one of those proxy fine.

DUnno what happen, i did a hard reset as was clearing the C730. It was initially working for me for BB COnnect 4 but it somehow doesnt work now. Anybody any idea. This is despite provisioning. It seems that its unable to connect to blackberry.
It remind me initially when it was not able to connect but now it seems to repeat the same thing. Anybody any ideas, is yours still working.

Mine still works fine. Blackberry Connect 4.0 is known to do some ROM and device type checks. On my HTC P3600, I had to install 2.1 first, make sure it was running fine, then I hard reseted the unit, install 4.0 and it has been fine ever since. You can try to install 2.1 and then 4.0.

I have the same experience as you. ie. It works when I purchase the C730. After I did a hard reset, the same BBConnect 4.0 client does not work any more. I am also on Singtel.
When I do a register now, it always goes from "Network Available" -> "Data Tunnel Available" --> "Not Connected" status.
And the PIN is always at the "Pending" Status. My research on the web seems to point out that each BB client is localise to WM firmware and hardware. Thus now have to wait for Dopod to release the client.

When it was working, all I had to do was hard reset, install 2.1 and run it, make sure it works. Then install 4.0 (all this is listed on my site).
I found a new copy, 4.0.0.90, and people claim it works fine with P3600 without any 2.1 then 4.0 tricks. Grab it at:
sems.org | Blackberry Connect 4.0.0.90 / Windows Mobile 6 Pro
I am now looking for the newer version for Smartphones, trying to make it work with Motorola Q9H

HTC/Dopod had released the official BB Client 4.0 for a week or so.
You need to be a member to login to d/l
It is working perfectly on my C730.
The info found on under the About section of this official release of BB Connect client is:
Blackberry Version. 4.0.0.84
Trnasport Version: 4.0.0.86

Can you send the cab to sems at sems dot org or put somewhere? I wonder if it will work with Q9H, the one I have is 4.0.0.76

My pleasure
I love the capabilities, software availability for the Windows Mobile devices. I use it from GPS to Sling, listening audiobooks to RSS reading. I know BB can do some of it, but still it is very limiting.
