Default Sonyericsson P1i running BB connect - 08-01-2007, 01:55 PM

Just got the SE P1i and surprised to see that BB Connect was installed in the system. Goto BIS web client and change the PIN and everything is working.
I have lost faith in Sonyericsson products because of the P990i but this time they seems to do it right. The P1i doesn't hang once since I have it and BB is running prefect. To us Mac user, Sony even have a plug-in to let the P1i iSync with OSX.

I change all my BB operation from BB 8800 to the P1i now It is not just because of the BB Connect. The most important is because I can now use my Mac to sync all my iCal and address book to my phone and not like the BB device that give us Mac user all sorts of trouble.

What's the speed of the email in terms of open/read/close (i.e. how long does it take to open each email)? I've experience BB connect on Symbian devices to be much slower than the native BlackBerry.

BB Connect devices can never beat the speed of BB Device. I have BB 8800 and no way anyone of the BB connect devices can beat the BB 8800. The main points that I am buying a BB Connect devices are, Chinese Input and Mac support. I don't use Bill Gate OS anymore and the current support of BB device on Mac is sucks. It drive me to switch to a BB connect device.

Default P1i - 08-02-2007, 02:30 AM

I'm seriously looking at getting this OR the Dopod C730 .... however I'll be getting a Mac Book Pro late this month or next.

Support for Mac isn't up to par with that MacSync or whatever app that RIM purchased late last year for sync?

Can you post some screenshots here or on Esato of BBConnect 4 on your P1 please? Many ppl would GREATLY appreciate it especially there & here.

note: 11 email accts is support on BBConnect on Symbian incl UIQ3.

btw where did you purchase your P1i? Not everyone is getting it with BBConnect installed over at Esato from various sources worldwide.

Be aware about the Dopod C730. I have posted here before that I have a C730 running BB Connect but after few days. It stop running and you cannot get a PIN from RIM anymore. It force me to sell the C730 and back to BB 8800 until I have this P1i

Default Need help with PIN - 08-04-2007, 08:49 AM

Hi,

In my Sony P1i the blackberry connect show the PIN as 0000000. This seems not proper for the blackbery site to activate my device.

Can I know how I could get this going.

Thanks

Are you SERIOUS?! Man I love the C730 because it'll offer 3G speeds & also for streaming WMV files. You live in Hong Kong so the P1's 3G actually works fo ryou there. I'm in Canada and getting email or even surfing without the WiFi with just GPRS is pittiful!

Any other findings?

What I learn from my experience and information from local BB support. RIM BIS server block certain BB Connect device which is not official launched in their own country. My experience with Dopod C730 is like this.

Got the phone and installed BB Connect 4.0 which download from UK HTC site. Get PIN from RIM and everything seems to work. However, after using it for a week. The BB connect cannot get any service from RIM Network anymore and I cannot get a PIN anymore. Entering the old PIN in BB Web Client and come back with illegal PIN. I then call BB Hong Kong and they said since Dopod is not supported by any HK carrier yet so it will not work. As I cannot use the C730 with BB Connect, it force me back to BB 8800 and sold the C730.

However, after a few weeks later. Dopod or HTC Hong Kong release the official Hong Kong BB Connect version and HKCSL started supporting C730. One of my friends one started to work again.

In this case, I think BB Connect need to work with your carrier and look into IMIE number to see that the device you have is an official release one. ( Distributor version not grey import.) otherwise RIM will not release a PIN to the device.

Concerning the P1i, I am using it for a week now and I hope it will not be like the C730 stop working again since Hong Kong has no carrier supporting the P1i and the one I have is not an official release one. ( SE official launched the P1i in Hong Kong 2 days ago.) I hope they don't block my IMIE this time.

P1i BB Connect User Guide from SE

P1i*-*Software downloads - P1 English BlackBerry Connect User Guide, Version R1a - Sony Ericsson

Blackberry treo - did you install the chinese fonts by putting them in the resources/fonts? if you did, it is caused by the fonts files that you used. search for another version that is able to display normal, bold & iltalic properly.

Default If the PIN is shown as 0000000 - 08-11-2007, 02:50 AM

You have to have P1i_R/B_OA2 WORLD1 [R9G007/R1C/R6D23/R6D22] firmware installed - then everything works fine
Just install BBC 4.33 (if it's not installed), check the time, date and GPRS settings and go for it - either BIS or BES you would use

Default BB Connect conflicts with Bluetooth ? - 09-12-2007, 07:37 PM

Hi SE P1i users, does anyone encounter the problem where BB service fails to get conected when Bluetooth is ON and vice versa ? Mine has that problem. I was cracking my head why my BB failed to connect and eventually found it somehow conflicts with the bluetooth.

And, I used to carry BB8700 and the desktop manager allows to configure filter where certain emails to be forwarded as L1 message and I can have alert profile for L1 message and normal emails. For example, I only want L1 message to beep but not other emails. But for P1i, the desktop manager still have the option 'forward as L1 message' but this does not appear on the phone. The alert setting is either I want it to beep for emails or not at all. I cannot choose to beep only for high priority emails.

Anyone can share and help ?

Dont know whether its just me, when i am typing out my email on teh P1i using blackberry, if its a long email, the whole blackberry email will crash, then i would lose what i have type and its quite frustrating. No problem if the email is short, but when its long, it will just crash and some kernal error message would appear, what make it more worse is that the email i am typing dont get save onto the draft folder.

Anybody else have this issue on the blackberry on the P1i
