Default BB Connect and BES - 10-06-2007, 09:20 PM

If a company supports "real" blackberry's thru BES, does that mean they also support Blackberry Connect on windows mobile?

Does the company even know that the device is not a RIM device?

The long and short of it - Can I replace my BB with the new AT&T Tilt running BB Connect without my company caring/complaining/knowing? (it's a personally owned BB)

Your company will know what model device you are using by looking at the BES. Depending on what version BES they have, they can also block certain devices from being activated on the BES.

A lot of companies (mine included) do not allow personally owned devices on the BES, either.

My advice is to find out the company policy for what your asking, since trying to circumvent what is allowed could be grounds for termination.

Thanks. I'm currently on the BES with a personally owned device (BB8800). Just was wondering if I got a new device, one using BB Connect, if the BES folks would know or care.

Based on what you said, they definitely would know, and therefore I need to check before buying anything

Sure and also investigate what you loosed by moving to connect - not soo bad now but its still not full BB, plus can you adapt well to UI changes (I don't)

The reason for doing this is to stay with AT&T, but need 3G speed for tethering.

Based on other postings, I think I'll wait until the BB 9000 comes out
