Default Grungy Gant Theme - Opinions

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone ran one of the versions of the Grungy Gant theme in their Storm?

How is it running? Any issues?

Additionally, everywhere I find it claims it is an "OTA" download but when I click on the link I get the download window to download the .jad file to my computer.

Is the only way to install this theme via the DM?

Inieto,

yeah, I was too impatient and downloaded it just a few ago.

#1. The app was OTA in the sense you had to surf to the page on your BB browser and click the link. I downloaded v1.4.7b.

#2. I examined it briefly before doing my battery pull, which always gets my Storm running better with a new theme. Visually, its the best theme I've downloaded so far. Evidently this designer put some work into this theme.

Here is the link below if you want to check it out on Crackberry. It looks exactly the same on the Storm.

Inieto,

I have been running it all day and I REALLY like GG Theme A LOT!

It's very smooth and extremely well designed. The designer evidently put much work into this theme. Very few glitches so far.

Let me know how yours runs for you. I am on .103.

X...
I used the weekend to test it out. I too like it alot. I am running it on .103 too so yes the glitches are very few for me too.

I like the ability to "hide" the calendar or today message/items. very nice work...will look out for more themes from this developer.

Inieto,

I am also loving this theme and still going strong with it. I love the way new messages appear on the main screen. Love it!

Also, did you notice it shows any nearby birthdays when the calendar icon is thumbed? Nice touch!

So far I have my Storm tricked out where I want it. Added the PS skin this weekend and its great to have the Storm bare. This GG theme was the cherry on top of the whipped cream.

I hope this developer keeps them coming!

What is the day(s) range for the birthdays to show up? I have a family members b-days coming up in 2 weeks and it is not showing. Please share.

Inieto,

it really depends on how many entries you have on your calendar. On my phone it found the date in my address book and displayed it, the birthday was not a calendar entry. I saw it several weeks out because its a light month for me. But if you have daily entries you might not see it until its a couple days out.

Jon K,

I think you can resolve your issue by simply changing the wallpaper setting to none. I did that before with a previous theme and corrected it easily by changing the wallpaper setting back.

John K,

actually, I just tried and was unable under the options button. I can't remember what I did.

Try this: Load your factory lightning theme. Return to home state. Do a battery pull. Then go back and re-select the GG theme. This should get it back online.

If it works, I recommend another battery pull. Something I always do after changing themes.

Okay, is there an OTA link to get this theme, if so please help me, I searched here and crackberry and found the post but no direct link.

Also once you download it, will it automatically show up in your themes folder or is there more steps involved?

As you can see I have never downloaded and installed a theme.

Thanks for the help.

Muddasick,

LOL, I had the same issue. Most of the time you request to have the link sent to your phone OTA. For Crackberry, their notion of OTA is actually going to the site on your BB browser and downloading via your phone internet.

What I did was go to the Crackberry website and cover the OTA link with my mouse icon. The OTA link will appear on your lower left browser bar. I typed in that address on my BB browser and was directed to download page. I then downloaded the theme onto my phone. The link you copy is LONG but it will work. Just take your time and type it in!

YES, once you down load the GG theme it will appear under your themes options. You just select it and it runs! Make sure you do a battery pull after you get it up and running.

Another easy way to install OTA apps/themes is to email the link to an address that's forwarded to your device. Open the email on the device and click on the link. It will bring you right to the download prompt.

It's very quick with push email, almost instant.

I have it running on my storm running .109, no problems so far. My only complaint is I cannot get this theme to display 2 rows of icons on the home screen even though it is set to do that under options. Other than that I like it.

I've been playing with the Plazmic software for creating themes for the Storm, and I've pretty much given up to the fact that the reason the software is still in beta is because there is still a lot that it doesn't do in relation to interfacing with the OS. Allowing the user to dictate how many rows is just one of many options that get lost in the creation of a theme...

I have a question about this. I thought when I get a new message or email it pops up and tells me. That hasn't happened for me so far. I just went and got the OTA link for the download and did the battery pull and everything. How do I do this?
