This is the whole reason I have a blackberry, to make email and calendar easy. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably have an iPhone.

Alerts don't really work in replacement of a today theme, it will alert you when you have something coming up, but you can't jut glance down at the screen, and see your day, your new email, and missed calls, in one glance.

anyone know if a bold theme, or another BB's theme would work?
Have you thought of trying BBLight? It can be set to automatically open the messages app when a new message is received.
