APPS / THEMES Get deleted if phone is rebooted Is it normal that I loose all my themes and apps I have downloaded if the phone reboots? I.e. after uninstalling 1 app or by randomness from crashing. It doesn't seem very convinient if I need to re-install apps each day (I have only had it for... 4 days and have had to re-instal lthe stuff about 5 - 6 times.) |
That's anything but normal! What version of the OS do you have on your phone? Have you tried a battery pull yet? |
a what?eh... I dont even know how to find my OS version, being that the "options" icon has now disappeared :/ edit: found it was under setup :/ v5.0.0.351 (platform 5.1.0.98) Also I dont know how the hell to pull the battery out (*embarassed face*) |
I forgot to mention that I've been losing BB App World when I do a battery pull. I'd upgrade to the latest OS .442 which is located at the top of this forum. Be SURE to follow the directions exactly. You can remove the battery by pulling down the back cover of the 9700 (thumbs on both sides at the top of the back cover and slide it down and off - it can be a little stiff going the first time but stay with it as it will come off). When you get the cover off the battery will be right there. Pull it out, wait a minute and then reinstall it. The phone will reboot automatically. Let us know how you make out and if it fixes the problem you're having. |
Well, Done the battery pull, Have yet to update OS (In college and wont install the driver software / blackberry desktop) I seem to still have all my apps installed, hopefully this is it. Also, When I do update the OS software, will I have to re-do the battery pull? and can doing the battery pull cause problems? also, Is there an easier way to get the battery out than prying it with a knife or breaking my nails? (im a dude btw, not got long nails either) |
err.. under normal circumstances you can just take out the battery (i'm a girl, my nails aren't that long but heck they're long enough).. without using a knife (:-o) secondly, a battery pull reboots your phone which helps to solve some of the problems your phone may be having in terms of software/app glitches. and it also helps to free up application memory. I'm on OS 5.0.0.351, and i've yet to encounter any of the problems you've had (touch wood) |
How do you find what OS you are using |

Hold down the alt key -AND- the cap key at the same time, then the letter 'H'. This brings up the "Help Me!" screen that lists version, app version, pin, imei, uptime, signal strength, batterylevel, file free, and file total. |
Thanks a million mate!! My OS is 5.0.0.321 ... is that the latest? |

There's enough room for you to get a small part of your fingernail in the space and pry the battery free. Like the back cover, it should come out a bit easier after you've done it once. |
