Just an idea since that makes 3 of us using tmobile with that issue.
Makes sense. I can tell you that I switched to one of my "old" 7100 specific themes over the weekend, and viola! all of my SMS/MMS messages were there. Let me know what happens on your end.

I am going on a break right now and calling TMO to see if they have any "known issues" or anything like that. I will post what I get when I get back here.

I work for T-Mobile. Trust me, there are no known issues on this one, as yet anyway.

That sucks. I dont want the Zen Theme to not work properly.

TMO wouldn't support it, most likely. This theme wasn't developed for the 7100 GSM handhelds, so keep that in mind... when they release their 7130g handheld, then they'll likely 'support' it.

Yeah I figured they would not. But I was just hoping maybe it was a carrier issue as opposed to a theme issue. I guess if someone running the actual TMO OS version right now that was having the same problem we could confirm that it is a carrier thing. But whatever, so my call logs dissapeared. If I didnt answer in the first place I probably didnt want to talk anyway.

Another reason I am waiting for VZW to (hopefully) release a new firmware.

I'm wondering if the root cause is the BES server, rather than the handset or the theme itself...T-Mobile will be launching the 8700g shortly, and if an an upgrade to the TMO's BES is part of this launch, this issue may correct itself...

...or maybe I just think too much...

Yeah I am not on BES. But I did find the more I switch the background image. The call log would erase more frequently. Weird.

So much for my half-baked theories...

the latest (and likely final) TMO version is barely higher than the latest CSL version - only on the platform not the applications. it, like the .300 version of CSL's software, does not include the Zen theme.

check to see if there is possibly a memory leak in the OS when using the theme? i would test this all myself, but my 7100 is dead ...

you did say that when you switched to another theme the messages were back?

Yes, my SMS/MMS messages returned when switching to another theme...oddly, I'm not having the call log issues that BluePolaski is experiencing.

Just wondering if there is any way to hack the zen theme to change the main display font in terms of type, empahsis, or color. I am guessing there isn't but if anyone knows where to start I am up for a challenge.

BTW, I unzipped 'net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_240x260.cod' to a folder with all 8 .cod files inside and found that the 'net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_240x260.cod' file inside (always freaked me out that the main file inside a archeive is identically named) contains most of the information about banner font, placement and size. What I don't know is that if I edit this information, will the .cod file need to be signed again before it would work? Or another thing, if I edit this, do I risk crashing my BB and having to reload everything?

jibi, I believe you were spot-on with your suggestion about memory leakage. When I attempted to switch themes earlier today, I got a "java error-memory depleted" message. I deleted a lot of uneceesary e-mails and got my theme changed successfully.
I think I have to finally admit that I am a theme and image hog. I am in the proceess of deleting all but my very favorite themes and images from my 7100t in the hopes that this may improve the situation.
Those of you who are having call log/sms issues with the zen 7100 theme may want to do some memory inventory.
jibi, many thanks for your insight.

jibi, ndub33,

I would have to agree with the memory problem. I have been playing with the HK CSL 300 release and the zen theme since saturday (3 days) and just today noticed the side effects of message and call log loss. I went to check my device against a backup and noticed that BB Desktop showed that these databases were completely clear when I went to do an advanced backup/restore. The data is gone forever in my case. I then went to check the memory status of my BB and it said only 1.4 MB free when I usually have about 12 - 16 MB free on my BB :O

Just removed the zen theme but things still don't seem to be back to normal so unless there is some more garbage collection left to free up more memory I may be reloading the FW again.

This explains why a reboot on one of our 7250's restored the call logs.

Just to provide some closure on this issue, I trimmed some fat from my theme and picture menus, and now I not only have all of my SMS/MMS messages, the entire OS runs much faster and more efficieintly on the zen theme.

A lesson learned in being greedy.

For what it's worth, even on the Non-Zen side if you maintain more than 15 themes you will find the same results.
